About Us

A small workshop. A single belief.

Children deserve outdoor play equipment that's as considered as the rest of the garden. That's what Timber & Twig was built on.

The Story

Born from a frustration with what was available.

When we looked at what was available for children's outdoor play, we saw two things: cheap flat-pack products that wouldn't last a winter, and expensive commercial units designed for school playgrounds rather than family gardens.

Neither felt right. So we started making our own.

Timber & Twig is based in Derbyshire, in the shadow of the Peak District. We build every kitchen by hand in our workshop, using thick-cut treated timbers and traditional joinery. Each one takes around 16 hours to complete. Each one is made to order.

The Workshop

Made in Derbyshire. Delivered across the UK.

Our workshop is in North Wingfield, Derbyshire — a few miles from Chesterfield and within sight of the Peak District hills. It's where every Timber & Twig kitchen begins and ends.

We source our timbers carefully, treat everything for long-term outdoor use, and finish each piece by hand before it leaves the workshop. Nothing is rushed.

We deliver fully assembled across the UK. Local customers in Derbyshire and the surrounding counties can arrange installation — just ask when you enquire.

What We Believe

The things that don't change.

Craft over convenience

We don't use flat-pack methods or production shortcuts. Every joint, every surface, every finish is done by hand. It takes longer. It shows.

Outdoor play matters

Children who play outside, who get muddy, who build and create in nature — grow differently. We believe in giving them the space and the tools to do that properly.

Buy once, keep forever

A Timber & Twig kitchen shouldn't need replacing. It should weather, gain character, and eventually be something a child remembers having. That's what we build for.

Our Home

Rooted in the Peak District.

The Peak District shapes how we think about outdoor space. Stone walls, ancient woodland, open moorland — it's a landscape built on permanence and natural beauty. That's what we try to bring into every kitchen we make.

When we say "handcrafted in the Peak District," we mean it. This is where we live, where we work, and where every Timber & Twig kitchen comes from.
